The page organizes your metrics into three sections, each with cards showing the current value and how it compares to the previous period. The KPI Tracking page with metric cards grouped by category The three groups are: - Financial Performance โ Total Revenue (against your target), Gross Profit Margin, Operating Cash Balance, and Monthly Recurring Revenue. Each card shows the value plus a period-over-period change. - Organizational Health โ Total Headcount, a New Hires vs Departures split, and your Employee Engagement score. - Operational Excellence โ Revenue Targets Met (as a progress gauge), Customer Acquisition, Customer Churn, and Delivery On-Time, plus an advisory note from your partner when there's operational commentary. ๐ Note โ This page is read-only You don't enter data here. The numbers come from what you submit each month on the Submit Data page. To update a KPI, submit your data for the period โ the KPI page refreshes to reflect it. ๐ก Tip โ Switch periods to compare Use the period selector in the header to view a different month. The KPIs update to show that period's submitted values, so you can track how a metric has moved over time.
Track Your Strategic Decisions
The Decision Tracker keeps a running log of the strategic decisions your organization is making โ what's being decided, who owns it, where it stands, and whether it's on time. Logging decisions here lets Fortis Pulse measure your decision velocity and helps your advisor spot decisions that are stalling. This guide covers viewing your decisions and adding a new one. ๐ก Tip โ Who can use this Available to all clients. Find it under Decision Tracker in the left-hand menu. Quick reference | Step | Action | |------|--------| | 1 | View and update your decision list | | 2 | Add a new decision | Step 1 โ View and update your decisions Click Decision Tracker in the sidebar. You'll see a list of your logged decisions, each showing its description, category, owner, deadline, and current status. The Decision Tracker list of strategic decisions From here you can: - Filter and search โ narrow the list by typing a search term, or filter by status (In Progress, Pending, Implemented, Abandoned) or owner. - Change a status โ use the inline status dropdown on any row to update where a decision stands. - See urgency โ decisions past their deadline are highlighted so you can spot what's overdue at a glance. - Delete a decision you no longer need (via the row's more menu). ๐ Note โ Decision velocity On higher tiers, a velocity panel summarizes how quickly your organization makes decisions โ your throughput against your reporting cadence, on-time percentage, and average cycle time โ plus a list of any decisions that have gone stale past their deadline. Step 2 โ Add a new decision Click New Decision. A form opens where you describe the decision you're logging. The New Decision form with description, owner, and deadline fields Fill in: - Decision Description (required) โ what's being decided. - Strategic Classification โ the category or pillar it relates to. - Executive Owner (required) โ who's accountable for it. - Current Status โ where it stands right now. - Deadline (required) โ when it needs to be decided or implemented. Click Save (or the equivalent) to add it to your list. The new decision appears immediately and starts counting toward your decision velocity.
Read Your Flags & Advisory Actions
Flags are how Fortis Pulse surfaces metrics that need your attention โ a number that's fallen outside a healthy range, or a risk your advisor has flagged. The Flags & Actions page gathers every active flag alongside the action items your advisor has assigned you, so you can see at a glance what needs handling this period. ๐ก Tip โ Who can use this Available to all clients. Find it under Flags & Actions in the left-hand menu. Quick reference | Step | Action | |------|--------| | 1 | Read your flags and acknowledge actions | Step 1 โ Read your flags and advisory actions Click Flags & Actions in the sidebar. The page has two parts: your Active Flags and your Advisory Action Items. The Flags & Actions page showing active flags and action items Active Flags are cards showing metrics that have crossed a threshold: - The severity (for example, a high or red flag) and its status (Active, Acknowledged, or Dismissed). - The metric name, its current value versus the target, and the pillar it belongs to. - A short advisory comment from your partner explaining what it means. Advisory Action Items are the tasks your advisor has asked you to handle โ each with a description, an owner, a due date, the partner who raised it, and a status. For items assigned to you, click Acknowledge to mark that you've seen and accepted the action. ๐ Note โ Flags come from your submitted data A flag appears when a metric you submitted falls outside the healthy range defined for your framework. No submitted data means no flags โ but also no score. Submitting complete data each period is what keeps your flags accurate. ๐ก Tip โ Flags are tied to a period Use the period selector in the header to view a different month's flags. Each period shows only the flags raised from that period's data.
Add a New Decision
Logging a strategic decision in the Decision Tracker takes a few fields and helps Fortis Pulse measure your decision velocity. This guide covers adding one. ๐ก Tip โ Who can use this Available to all clients, on the Decision Tracker. Quick reference | Step | Action | |------|--------| | 1 | Fill in the decision form and save | Step 1 โ Add a decision On the Decision Tracker, click New Decision. A form opens. Fill in: - Decision Description (required) โ what's being decided. - Strategic Classification โ the category or pillar it relates to. - Executive Owner (required) โ who's accountable. - Current Status โ Pending, In Progress, Implemented, or Abandoned. - Deadline (required) โ when it should be decided or implemented. Click Save (or the equivalent) to add it to your list. The new decision appears immediately and starts counting toward your decision velocity. ๐ Note โ Owners drive accountability The Executive Owner field is who's responsible for the decision. Choosing a clear owner helps track it and feeds the velocity metrics. Pick the person actually accountable, not just a department. ๐ก Tip โ Log decisions as they happen For the most useful velocity tracking, log decisions close to when they're made rather than in batches later. Real-time logging gives you an accurate picture of how quickly your organization decides.
Change a Decision's Status
As a decision progresses, update its status so your Decision Tracker and velocity metrics stay accurate. This guide covers changing a status. ๐ก Tip โ Who can use this Available to all clients, on the Decision Tracker. Quick reference | Step | Action | |------|--------| | 1 | Use the inline status dropdown on a decision row | Step 1 โ Update a status On the Decision Tracker, each decision row has an inline status dropdown. Click it and choose the new status: - Pending โ not yet started. - In Progress โ being worked on. - Implemented โ completed and in effect. - Abandoned โ decided against or dropped. The change saves immediately and updates your completion rate and velocity metrics. ๐ Note โ Status feeds decision velocity Your on-time percentage and cycle time depend on decisions moving to "Implemented" (or "Abandoned") by their deadline. Keeping statuses current gives you an accurate velocity read. ๐ก Tip โ Mark decisions Implemented promptly When a decision is actually in effect, mark it Implemented right away rather than leaving it In Progress. Delayed status updates understate how decisively your organization moves.
Understand Decision Velocity
Decision Velocity measures how effectively your organization makes and acts on strategic decisions โ not just how many you log, but whether they move through on time. It's a leading indicator of execution health. This guide explains what it shows. ๐ก Tip โ Who can use this Available on the Partner tier and above. Find it on the Decision Tracker. Quick reference | Metric | What it means | |--------|---------------| | Velocity score | Overall decision-making effectiveness (0โ100) | | On-time % | Decisions completed by their deadline | | Avg cycle days | How long decisions typically take | What Decision Velocity shows On the Decision Tracker, the velocity panel summarizes your decision-making health with a few metrics: - Velocity score (0โ100) โ a composite reflecting your throughput against your reporting cadence, your on-time rate, and your cycle speed. - Throughput vs. cadence โ how many decisions you're making compared to what your cadence expects. - On-time percentage โ the share of decisions completed by their deadline. - Average cycle days โ how long a decision typically takes from logged to implemented. - A throughput sparkline โ your decision volume over recent periods. - A stale decisions list โ decisions past their deadline, each with a reschedule control. ๐ Note โ It feeds the Intelligence pillar Decision Velocity contributes to your Intelligence pillar score. Logging decisions and keeping them moving (rather than letting them go stale) improves both your velocity and that pillar. ๐ก Tip โ Reschedule stale decisions If a decision has gone past its deadline, use the inline reschedule control to set a new, realistic deadline. Stale decisions drag down your velocity โ either move them forward or update their status to reflect reality.
Reschedule an Overdue Decision
When a decision passes its deadline without being resolved, it goes "stale" โ and stale decisions drag down your decision velocity. You can reschedule a stale decision to a new, realistic deadline. This guide covers rescheduling. ๐ก Tip โ Who can use this Available on the Partner tier and above, on the Decision Tracker. Quick reference | Step | Action | |------|--------| | 1 | Reschedule a stale decision's deadline | Step 1 โ Reschedule a stale decision On the Decision Tracker, the velocity panel includes a Stale decisions list โ decisions past their deadline. Each has an inline reschedule control (a date picker). Pick a new deadline and save. The decision moves out of the stale list and gets a fresh target, so it stops counting against your on-time metrics. ๐ Note โ Rescheduling reflects reality Rescheduling isn't cheating โ it's keeping the record honest. A decision that genuinely needs more time should get a new deadline rather than sitting stale forever. Just don't use it to endlessly push decisions you've actually abandoned; mark those Abandoned instead. ๐ก Tip โ Set realistic new deadlines When rescheduling, pick a deadline you can actually hit. Repeatedly pushing a decision forward signals it's not a real priority โ consider whether it should be Abandoned instead.
